Personal Finances Help
Before you start work with Personal Finances, we recommend to open a sample file (demo_english.pfd or demo_portuguese_pt.pfd) and play with it to learn more about Personal Finances features.
Quick start
First of all create a new your own database using menu File->New... (or use demo.pfd as template).
After that create all currencies and accounts, it may be cash or wallet, credit cards, bank accounts etc.
At the left side of window you will see Accounts list and current balance of each account.
Next step is to note spendings and incomings. To do that create a transactions using buttons "Add",
"Add copy" or "Quick expense".
Buttons "Add copy" and "Quick expense" helps you to create a similar transactions more quickly.
Also you can create scheduled transactions, export and import data,
divide transactions by Categories, Family members and Sections.
F.A.Q. – Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Looking at your download page I see that there are apparently several versions of Personal Finances.
Which version of program do I need?
A: If you wish to install program on PC and you should use the standard desktop version.
If you wish to install program on your usb drive and launch it from this usb drive on any PC
- use regular usb version or U3 version if you have U3 smart drive.
Q: Individual user license only for one computer/usb. Does that mean if I purchase that one for my usb version,
I can't access the program if I am on a different computer from which I downloaded it?
A: You can use program on any computer where your USB drive inserted in. You can't use software at multiply USB drives.
Q: What about Family license?
A: Family license gives you the right to use Personal Finances on 3 PC or 3 USB drives. This means you can install program on 3 PC only or 2 PC
and 1 USB drive or 1 PC and 2 USB drives, and so on.
Q: How can I set an initial debit to account?
A: Simple create an income transaction set sum and name it "initial debit".
Q: I have tried to put a negative Opening Balance in one of my accounts
but the software does not seem to like it; it shows it as a positive
number instead. Is there a solution ?
A: Yes, only positive numbers can be entered. You can put equal value in expense section instead to create negative balance.
Q: What is the function of "quick expense"?
A: "Quick expense" helps you to create a similar expenses faster, It shows
list of most used expenses and you can create a new copy of it.
Q: I entered expenses and incomes information, but can't see it. What wrong?
A: First of all check time interval, transaction may not fit in it, so it is not displayed. Check right account selected. Check
the scheduler tab.
Q: How can I set a viewing period to a week, etc instead of just the month?
A: You can set any time period using "Custom time interval" button (with calendar icon on it).
Q: Is there a way to transfer data from the Lite version of Personal Finances into Full version?
A: Both Lite and full versions data files are compatible.
Just copy your data base file from Data folder at Lite version to Data folder at full version
of program and open this base using menu File->Open...
You can find a name and full path to opened data base file at the bottom of main window,
near Quick Expense button. Usually it is "C:\Program files\Personal Finances Lite\Data\your_base_name.pfd".

All language files in simple text format in "/Lang" folder
(e.g. C:\Program files\Personal Finances\Lang\).
