Currency management

The user should assign a currency to each account in the program. The list of currencies can be edited in the "Currencies" dialog. You can change the settings of the existing currency, add a new currency or disable/delete a currency which is no longer used. Personal Finances allows creation of the unlimited number of currencies.

For each currency, the user can enter its full name, symbol, code (for downloading ex. rates), choose the alignment of the symbol: left ($100) or right (100$), and select the display format: with one, two or three characters after the comma, or without them (1 000).

Basic setup

Starting Personal Finances opens the main windows of the program. The window displays following information:

1. The current default currency, in this case US dollars
2. a control button to click on and;
3. a list of currencies for you to select from (default currency marked star icon).
4. Selected currency settings.

Choose the currency or currencies that you wish to work with and add them to the list, then set default currency. Once you have done this, you can download current exchange rates.
