Categories, tags and family members
The concept behind the program lies in grouping expenses and income into categories. This is useful because one can see where money is going and how much is spent at a single glance, without the need to examine reports. The system of categories is designed as a tree that may have the unlimited number of subcategories. Each category may fall into subcategories, each of which may further fall into more sub categories. Additionally, expenses (and income) can be grouped by family members and assigned special tags. This allows the user to see the flow of money in general and then drill down into details.
The system of categories allows organizing transactions by their type. You will know exactly how much and what money is spent on, pinpoint the areas of excessive expenditures and cut down unnecessary expenses. Grouping by family members and tags serves the same purpose.
Tags are similar to categories, but independent from them. A group of transactions may belong to one category, but have different tags. One can use tags to organize expenses by the place where the purchase is made, payment type and other criteria.
Categories management
The system of categories has a tree-like structure with the unlimited number of subcategories – the user can create any number of categories and sub categories.
One can enable (or disable) grouping of transactions by categories, tags, or family members, using the "View settings" button on the toolbar above the list of transactions.
The list of categories, tags and family members can be edited in the "Categories" dialog. One can add new categories or subcategories, edit or delete existing ones.
The user should add a name to each category and specify icon.
